What a creative morning we have had!

Wow, what a creative morning we have had! Bryleigh wanted to start school early this morning so we began by making Angel Tree Toppers!
Bryleigh wanted flowers on her tree topper
Tracee loved being able to color her angel
Here's the finished project. They did good for their first time!
Then Bryleigh made Gingerbread house Christmas Cards
Here's one of the many she made.
Then we decided to make Christmas Sugar Cookies
Bryleigh put the egg in and here's Tracee pouring in the butter
They couldn't wait for the cookies to bake!
Then it was school work time. Here they are working on their schoolwork for the day
Bryleigh enjoys her new 1st Grade workbook :) Today she learned about opposite words, weather words, & action words.
The Sugar Cookies turned out so good...
and according to Bryleigh, they were delicious :)
Finally...we did a lesson on Zhu Zhu Pets...that's right...I realize now, after homeschooling for awhile, that you can literally make a learning lesson out of everything!! We found out that Zhu Zhu Pets were created by Russ Hornsby. The name, Zhu Zhu, comes from China and in chinese it means "little pig". Zhu Zhu comes in 9 different characters. Here are Bryleigh & Tracee playing with their Zhu Zhu Pets. Bryleigh has the Zhu Zhu pet "Patches" and Tracee is playing with the "Kung Zhu" type. They have thoroughly enjoyed our creative morning!

We took a break for lunch, then Bryleigh finished her schoolwork and I put Tracee down for a nap. It was now time to make Christmas Kool-aid Popsicles!! Bryleigh loved making the popsicles, especially when she was able to drink the rest of the kool-aid :) Now we are just waiting for them to freeze!

and school is over for the day and it's time to relax and enjoy this beautiful cold winter day!

Bryleigh's Friend's Build A Bear Party 12/3/10

Bryleigh was invited to her friend, Emma Grace's birthday party tonight. She was so excited when she heard it was going to be at Build A Bear. We have never been there before so it was a new experience for both Bryleigh & me. All I heard all day was "when is it time to go to Build a Bear"? So we let Tracee stay home with dad and we left to go to the party. Emma Grace had a great turn out.

Here's Bryleigh, Emma Grace, Emery & Maddie

Amanda, the Build a Bear worker, got everyone to pick out a bear. Here's the bear Bryleigh picked.

Then Amanda took all the kids to the back of the store & played a couple of games with them.

Then it was finally time to stuff the bear!

Here's Amanda stuffing Bryleigh's bear
Amber is sewing up the bear, which Bryleigh named Bella (Bryleigh was so excited because she received a birth certificate for Bella too!)

Now it's time for a hug :)
Bryleigh gives Bella a bath

Then after the bath, she got to pick out two bows to put in Bella's hair

Bryleigh & Bella. Bryleigh even received a House for Bella to sleep in
Emma Grace's birthday cake

Waiting for cake and ice cream

After the party, we had to go back and get Bella an outfit and of course, I couldn't resist getting Tracee a bear as well. Tracee loved it and named it Mickey (even though it's a girl and every animal she has is named Mickey. LOL! She loves Mickey Mouse)

We had such a great time and are so glad we had an opportunity to help celebrate Emma Grace's birthday!

CHA Christmas Craft Party 12/3/10

We had an opportunity today to attend the 2010 CHA Christmas Craft Party at Agape' Baptist Church. We had a great time seeing everyone and making all the crafts.

We started out the party by dividing into groups then we went to different tables set up around the room. Each table had a different craft that the children could do.

The first craft was an ornaments made from flour & salt.
Of course Tracee had to help Bryleigh! She loved the feel of the glue and had it all over her!
Here's their finished projects. I thought they turned out real cute.
Then the next table we went to had a recipe on how to make Candy Cane Bath Salt. Here's Bryleigh stirring in the red dye.
Here she is dividing out the salt into a small mason jar.
Bryleigh is showing Tracee what she is doing!! LOL! Tracee didn't really care about what Bryleigh was doing, she just wanted to play with the salt.
Finished Project.
Next, was the Gingerbread House table. This was Bryleigh's favorite craft.
I think she liked it because it was edible!
Tracee liked this table too because she got to taste the icing & eat the candy!!!
Bryleigh really wanted to eat the M&Ms!
Next, she made an Advent Calendar
Here's the finished project! Too cute.

Then we went into a room and Cynthia read a story to us called "What God wants for Christmas". It was so cute. Then the girls made ornaments that went along with the story.
The final craft was making a beaded Candy Cane & bell bracelet.
Here's Bryleigh's Candy Cane
While we were waiting for the Christmas Blessing Mix Snack, Tracee & Bryleigh made bookmarks.
Needless to say, the Gingerbread House didn't last long in our house :) It was so delicious!
We ended up putting all the decorations on the tree!
I really enjoyed getting to see everyone today and the girls loved being able to make all these different Christmas Crafts to display on our Christmas tree! Can't wait to do this again!
